Madah's Speech In Thailand

This is a brief essay on how I expect to contribute to the development of my community and country:

A doctor is a health care provider who practices the profession of medicine, which is concerned with promoting, maintaining or restoring human health through the study, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, injury, and other physical and mental impairments. This career carries the main responsibility for the provision of continuing and comprehensive medical care to individuals, families and community.This career amazed me because it is my passion to concern about people’s health and keeping them healthy. There are plenty of ways on how I expect to contribute to the development of my community and country upon my graduation in this medical field.

First of all, I have many relatives living in a rural area which is lack of doctors. It’s pitiful to watch many sick people waiting for their treatment in an overcrowded hospital with few doctors in it. Basically, people hate to wait and even worse when they are sick. Upon my graduation, I’m willingly to lend a hand in spite of the hard life working in rural areas which are lack of facilities but that doesn’t even matter because not everybody has everything what it takes to save lives.

Furthermore, in my Muslim community in the southern provinces of Thailand, there is a lack of professional Muslim doctors. Basically, non-Muslim doctors are less socially acceptable in my Muslim community because Muslim patients trust and easier to talk to a doctor of the same religion and culture. Physcologically, it is also a way of spreading Islam by practicing Islamic culture. In fact, my Muslim community needs more professional Muslim doctors in the area. It is to show that Muslim people are also capable to develop better qualities of career and to be more competitive in this advanced era.

Moreover, wild diseases are still raging and widespread through the whole world nowadays. Such out of hand diseases as HIV and rare infections are still incurable and many people are still unaware by these. But as the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, hence I’ll aware the information publicly to my community about the deadly consequences, how the spread of the diseases and steps to prevent it. Besides that, I’ll promote a healthy living style. In fact, this method may raise people’s concern and alertness toward the diseases and thus the diseases can be prevented.

Lastly, being in the Board of Directors of Ministry of Health is what I aim for. As a doctor, we know most about people’s health and their treatment and it is our responsibility to keep them healthy. There are some flaw in the management of the system by the government such as some people are less concern about cleanliness due to less encouragement by the government, no free medical check-up, expensive vaccination and medication, less medical equipment in rural areas and less encouragement from the government due to other priority. In fact, the rates of people dying are increasing. As a doctor, at the same time with such possession and authority, I can manage the system and solve away any defect in the system and also give full encouragement and treatment to those who are in need.

In a nutshell, the career of a doctor is a challenging, fascinating and rewarding. When you know that you would happily do a job for the rest of your life and you would gladly do it sincerely, then you know that it is a career worth fighting for. I know what lies ahead of me; it’s my passion of curing dying people. Just a smile from them, it’s a world for me.
